East Texas is a world unto itself. This is your chance to find out why it is called the Piney Curtain and explore the many historical spots in East Texas. You’ll also have a chance to ride on the Palestine to Rusk Train and the Steamboat in Jefferson.

Depart at 8am.


Day 1Depart Huntsville for Beaumont

Explore the Neches River and History Museum of East Texas at Beaumont.
Lunch in Beaumont then north to Jasper for a brief stop at local museums then north to San Augustine.
Evening at Bed and Breakfast on the Angelina River.

Day 2Depart for Nacogdoches

Follow the Old Camino Real (Highway 21) from the old San Augustine mission to the first Anglo settlement in Texas at Nacogdoches. Learn the history of the Fredonia Rebellion and the Old Fort during the Texas Revolution.
Drive to Palestine to catch the train to Rusk and enjoy a picnic lunch on the train.
Head to Jefferson for the best Bed and Breakfast in Texas.

Day 3Depart for Jefferson at 8am.

Explore Jefferson and enjoy a steamboat ride on the Lake of the Pines. Learn about the Civil War History of East Texas and the importance of Marshall as a railroad center.
Lunch in Marshall and return to Huntsville through Carthage and Jasper and Deep East Texas.
