This is a guided walking tour of Oakwood Cemetery, in Huntsville, TX. The cemetery is located a short distance from Huntsville's historic downtown district, a short drive on "Spur 94," Sam Houston Memorial Drive, known as the shortest highway in Texas. We will learn the stories of many prominent Huntsville residents buried here as we enjoy the quiet peace under the pines.
The Histories are gathered from local historians, Huntsville Cemetery Board, and local lore.
6:45 PM - Meet at our office at 1212 12th Street in downtown Huntsville.
7:00 PM - Board the Joye Mobile for the ride over to Oakwood Cemetery.
7:10 PM - Start guided tour at the Sam Houston gravesite.
Your tour guide will enchant you with the history of Huntsville as we trace the lives of the many residents buried here.
9:00 PM - Board the Joye Mobile to return to our downtown office.
