Historic Tours of Texas
We are a small, independent company with a large, comfortable party bus (and yes, it has a dance pole). We cater to older adults interested in touring Texas although we are available for personalized wine tours, anniversary trips, family outings, and birthday or bachelorette parties in our spacious and luxurious bus. We keep our tours to no more than 12 passengers so we can serve you in the best way possible. Flexibility is key. Dr. Carolina Castillo Crimm
Tour Guide Biography
Founder and owner, Dr. Carolina Castillo Crimm has spent the last 40 years providing tours and reenactments for her high school and college students, as well as the general public. She entertains audiences at historic lectures for community and historic groups. public school teachers, and national and international audiences. She is a certified International Tour Guide, holding a certificate from the International Tour Guide Association, Denver, CO.
With Historic Tours of Texas, she has expanded her offerings to include tours for retirees, for the general public and specialty tours for families and home-schoolers. These are short one-day to three or four-day tours focused on specific historic areas in Texas. She takes her guests in comfortable buses to stay at historic bed and breakfasts, enjoy the local cuisine, tour the local museums with step-aboard guides and learn the history of the great state of Texas. Anyone interested in the wonderful variety of history, art, archeology, architecture and music of Texas is welcome to join our tours.
Dr. Crimm is affiliated with the Texas Historical Commission as a member of the Walker County Historical Commission, and served on the Board of Humanities Texas, as well as the Texas State Historical Association. In addition, she serves her home town of Huntsville as a Board member for the Main Street Program and the Old Town Theater.
Dr. Crimm, whose Ph.D. is in Latin American History from the University of Texas at Austin, has earned the distinction of being named a Piper Professor as one of the “Best Teachers in Texas.” Her specialty, including an award-winning book De León: A Tejano History, is 18th and 19th century Texas. She has taught on the high school level for 15 years and on the college level for 20 years. She is recently retired from Sam Houston State University as a Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Crimm has received numerous awards for her teaching and is a well-known and popular speaker on the local, state-wide, national and international level.
